Phil shares how he came up with Blue Ribbon, how he secured his first deal with a Japanese manufacturer and how he got Bill Bowerman to agree to be his business partner. In these early days Nike wasn’t Nike, but Blue Ribbon. He had noticed how the Japanese had grown their market share of the camera market and thought they could do the same in relation to running shoes.
